How will you go back to your old life after spending twelve years in jail? How will you pick up the pieces of your life when the world has moved on without you? How will you go back to work with the persons who failed to protect your freedom? This is the premise of LIFE, the upcoming drama series from NBC to be aired this fall. Life's storyline might sound a bit unimaginative versus other fall shows but the show's grit lies in the human drama delivered by its competent cast. Life is created by Rand Ravich with Far Shariat, David Semel and Daniel Sackheim as his co-producers. Aside from airing on NBC, Life will also be televised on Global in Canada, and on Network Ten in Australia. Life is currently scheduled to premiere on September 26, 2007 and will thereafter be seen every Wednesday night at 10/9c on NBC.
The story of Life revolves around Charlie Crews, a former police detective who was imprisoned for a crime he didn't commit. Twelve hard years later, Charlie goes out of jail, and this is where Life begins. After he was released, Charlie goes back to work in the police force. But everything has changed in the police world and yet, at the same time, the old pain of his wrongful imprisonment remains. Charlie's comeback was made even harder when his reluctant new partner is the jaded Dani Reese. The good thing is, Charlie's twelve years in jail has tempered him, and he has learned to appreciate the little things in life that most people take for granted. Also, Charlie's appreciation for small details gives him unique insights in solving crimes. The pilot episode of Life tackles Detective Charlie Crews' painful re-entry to the world that left him behind, and how he deals with it. The episode's director is David Semel who is also a co-producer.
The principal characters of Life are the following: Damian Lewis plays the lead character, Detective Charlie Crews while Sarah Shahi plays his partner, Detective Dani Reese. Adam Arkin stars as Ted Early while Brooke Langton plays Charlie's lawyer, Constance Griffiths who has thing for Charlie, despite her being married. Brent Sexton takes the role of Bobby Starks, and Robin Weigert from Deadwood plays Lieutenant Karen Davis, Charlie's boss. Currently, the only recurrent character listed is that of Jennifer Conover, played by Claudia Black. The role of Constance Griffiths, Charlie's lawyer, was initially given to Melissa Sagemiller (Sleeper Cell) but she was replaced in July 2007 with Brooke Langton as mentioned above. Catch LIFE every Wednesday night at 10/9c on NBC starting September 26, 2007.
